Life by David Nard
Well it’s certainly been a while since I’ve posted on here!! Since then:
I went to Las Vegas for the first time for a friend’s bachelor party. Got my first lap dance, played my first hand of blackjack at a real table, slept 4 hours in 4 days, and came home with double the money I [...]
Well folks, it’s that time of the year again; time to make some resolutions and (hopefully) stick to them.
So, for 2009 my goals are:
Lose my ever-increasing belly
Run the Pittsburgh Marathon
Run (and finish!) an ultra-marathon, preferably a 50-miler. August, perhaps?
Work out more days than not
Find full-time, enjoyable employment
Here’s hoping

Nice, easy 2 miles today. And…my heel didn’t hurt! Much as it sucked to take almost 3 weeks off, I think it was for the best. Definitely not going to be in shape for the December marathon in NC, but at least I won’t have to worry about needing foot surgery!

Decided to take today off from running. My plantar faciitis is healing nicely (I think) and hurts much less in the morning when I first get up. Today, I think I’m just going to relax and stretch a lot, then do some sprint work tomorrow on the McKinley Field track.
Oh yeah, we lost our softball [...]
I officially started training for my next marathon (December? maybe? Probably March though) on August 19th. Since then, I’ve run 10 times, for a total of 36 miles. Not bad, but not great.
On a similar note, I think I’m going to switch shoes. I had been running in Asics Gel Kayano’s for the past 10 [...]
I’ve had some nice semi-long ( >5 ) runs, so today I kept it under 5.
Just about 4.3 miles. Split times, courtesy of Garmin’s MotionBased, are:
1-10:25
2-10:45
3-10:35
4-9:16
End-2:27
Marathon goal time is under 4:30, which a little above a 10-min pace. So, before December I’ve got to get my mileage up, and my times down. Heh.
Decided today that I will run my next marathon on my Saturday, December 13th of this year. Why the 13th? Because it’s my birthday! What better way to celebrate turning 26 than by run 26(.2) miles!
Today’s run took my up West Liberty / Washington road and back for a little over 5 miles. Split times [...]
My inside sources tell me that the Pittsburgh Marathon will return to the area next year! It’s still hush-hush and yet to be officially announced, but the info came from a very reliable source.
YES!

Had a great swim this morning at the pool. Ran into Marie, who’s one of the few ultramarathoner’s I’ve actually met in person. Funny story — she was lifting this morning and pulled something in her neck. But rather than call it a day, she decided to swim. I would’ve just gone home, haha!
Anyway, swam [...]

Well, as you probably guessed, my name is David. My passion is running. I’ve been running fairly regularly since I was about 12, however in recent years I’ve definately slacked, and my 7-min pace has deteriorated to a measly 10-min pace. I’m working on it though
My hobbies include reading, running, and a slew [...]
